Anime Portraits
I remember growing up and catching Speed Racer and Astro Boy on TV. Later, it was Princess Knight while I was home sick, watching public television.
I didn’t really get into anime and manga until the early 1990s, with Ranma ½, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and other shows from that era.
It wasn’t until my trip to Japan in 2022—and the purchase of a Kurumi Tokisaki figure—that I became hooked on collecting figures and creating backgrounds for photography.
Please enjoy this collection of images. All figures are my own, except for Kaori from Your Lie in April. The photographs are mine; the characters belong to their respective creators.
My figure photography explores both character portraiture and visual storytelling. Anime Portraits focuses on expression, detail, and the personality each figure brings, while Atmosphere & Narrative leans into mood, setting, and the quiet stories created through light, shadow, and composition.
